Driving out to the radio station mid-morning this past Friday, reminded me of just what an asset Torrington Livestock Market provides to our local economy. There were pickups with stock trailers lined up from the auction house back past the Z&W Mill, to nearly Community Drug. Yes, it looked like the Friday Auction was a good one. In case you didn’t know or have forgotten, Torrington Livestock Market is Wyoming’s largest livestock market. Torrington Livestock is a full service auction service offering live sales, video sales, internet cattle sales, and private treaty sales. All classes of cattle are for sale every Friday, yearling and calf sales are held every Wednesday August through March, special Bred Cow and Pair – Calf sales are held on Mondays and advertised throughout the fall. From this reporter’s point of view, Torrington Livestock is a real plus to the strength of our community. To Shaun, Lex and all the good folks at Torrington Livestock Market, thanks for all you do to keep Torrington and Goshen County a great place to work and live.
We would be remiss if we didn’t take a moment to acknowledge the fine Torrington High School Musical Comedy performed this past Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Nearly 30 cast members and who knows how many more students working behind the scenes, laid on us, Cole Porter’s “Anything Goes”. From the comments made by everyone coming out the doors following the performances, it’s needless to say that our community is loaded with talent. Not only the high school performers, but the volunteer live band aptly named the S.S. American Jazz Combo. For those who missed this high school performance, you still have an opportunity to witness that load of talent living right here in our community as you’ll have a chance to catch the Goshen Community Theatre Production, The Curious Savage coming to the EWC Fine Arts Auditorium beginning this Thursday November 12th with six more performance to follow concluding with the Saturday performance on November 21st.
