All military retirees F.E. Warren Air-Force Base is honoring military
retirees from all services during a Retiree Appreciation Day Nov. 21 in the
base’s medical clinic. The event is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and includes informational booths with specialists to work one-on-one with retirees to answer questions and provide the latest information on their military benefits. The event is free and open to retirees from all military services. Again that’s Nov.21 from 9 to 1.

City Torrington and County of Goshen are asking local residents to register their telephone numbers in the new CodeRED Emergency Notification System.   CodeRed is a high-speed telephone communication service that allows authorities to send out emergency information right to your phone.  It is capable of dialing fifty thousand phone numbers per hour.  This system would deliver a recorded message to a registered telephone number and make three attempts to connect to your number.  So if a child goes missing or there were water contamination notices, this system could get the word out quickly.  Phone numbers will not be sold or shared with anyone. If you have not signed up for CodeRed, you should visit GoshenCounty.Org website and register your phone number today.

Eastern Wyoming College is offering students the opportunity to travel to Italy to study art in the summer of 2010.  The Department of Art and Honors Program will be offering Studio Art and Visual Culture courses. Informational sessions will be held for students interested registering for these courses on Wednesday, November 18 at 6:00 pm in the EWC Board Room and Friday, November 20 at noon in the Fine Arts Lecture Hall (Auditorium).   Community members are also encouraged to attend and may audit the courses.  Community members could also attend only part of the trip if it was more convenient. For More information, contact Daniel Fielder, EWC Art Instructor at 307-532-8291

Vern Ellis had earned the 2009 AARP Wyoming Tax Aide Award.  He had been working with the AARR Tax Aid program since 1995. Ellis says he keeps helping more people with their tax returns each year. With his accounting background, its one way he can help, especially those with low income who can’t afford to go to a paid preparer. Congratulations Vern for volunteering your time to help others.
