Goshen County Economic Development Corporation discusses merger with Chamber at quarterly partnership breakfast

At last week's Goshen County Economic Development Corporation partnership breakfast, many business owners and individuals provided updates or information about projects in the works around the community.  The main topic centered around the merging of the Chamber of Commerce and GCEDC.  Ashley Harpstreith, Executive Director of GCEDC explained that a transition committee made up of board members of both the Chamber and Economic Development has been formed and said that the merging of the two entities, which will become official January 1st, will provide enhanced benefits for the community.

Among the many updates provided, Sandy Dugger, Chief Operating Officer for Banner Health shared information regarding personnel, including the hiring of a new OB doctor and the addition of a new rehab building that will be breaking ground in the next few weeks.

John Hansen, Director of Institutional Development at Eastern Wyoming College shared that with enrollment up, the year is off to a great start.  He mentioned that EWC Trustee, John Patrick, was selected to receive the 2016 Western Regional Trustee Leadership Award from the Association of Community College Trustees and is the first EWC Trustee to earn this accolade.  Hansen also provided information about new faculty and students that add to the diversity of EWC.

Sitting in on the member breakfast allowed me to gain a better perspective of many of the new developments going on around Goshen County, and it seems that even with the economy in the state that it is in, things are growing and moving right along here in our little corner of Wyoming thanks in part to all of the forward thinking, innovative members of this community.
