Lingle will rebuild its Community Center with partial funding from the State Land & Investment Board

The Town of Lingle was awarded a $365,567.00 grant from the Wyoming Business Council through the State Land Investment Board (SLIB) to complete a Community Center. This Community Center will be at the heart of their Main Street.

“After visiting with several area contractors and an engineering firm, it was determined the current community center building is uninhabitable,” said Lingle Mayor George Siglin. He said the town also purchased the building adjacent to the community center and will tear down both buildings to begin new construction. Mayor Siglin said that the building will be available for various functions such as wedding receptions, birthdays, and community meetings as well as the Senior Center lunch program in the future.

“This is a great opportunity for Lingle.  If we were to condemn the building and not replace it, there would be a hole on Main Street. We sit on the intersection of two major highways; US 26 and US 85 so we feel very strongly that we need a nice-looking, new building,” said Mayor Siglin.

The grant from the SLIB Board is partial funding with sources coming from various other grants, including one from Black Hills Energy. Mayor Siglin said Points West Bank has also been a huge help in getting this project in the works.

Mayor Siglin foresees breaking ground on the Community Center by this summer.
