Many exciting things are going on at the Goshen County Fair:

 TUESDAY, July 27th * 4-H BUILDING & AG HALL CLOSED *

7:00 am Horse Exhibit Check-In (Horse Barn)
7:30-8:00 am Carcass Lamb Weigh-In (Swine Barn)
8:00-8:30 am Carcass Beef Weigh-In (Beef Barn)
8:00 am Horse Showmanship and Halter (Pavilion)
                   Followed by Horse Performance
5:00 pm Breeding Meat Goat, Breeding Sheep Showmanship,
                  Breeding Sheep & Breeding Swine Shows(Grass Arena)
6:00 pm Youth Fun Rodeo (Pavilion)

Goshen Cattlewomen are pleased to announce that “Goshen County Legacy of Brands, Volume II,” has been published. Published by Nebraska Printworks, Ogallala, Nebraska, the book completes the history of brands on the wall of the Brand Room in the Rendezvous Center at the Goshen County Fairgrounds. The project, began in 1992 when the Cattlewomen approached the Goshen County Fair Board and Goshen County Commissioners to ask that a room in the new building being planned for the fairgrounds be utilized to display historical brands.  Read the rest of this entry »

Friday Hours Resume At Niobrara County Library, Mutton Busting

Goshen County Fair events start today.  We spoke to Jackie Wise about mutton Busting.

Mutton busting is an event where children less than 60 lbs hold on tight to a sheep, much like bull riding.  Children can face forward or backward on the sheep.  Mutton Busting event takes place in the Pavilion on Thursday at 7pm along with Mini Wild Horse Race and Tiny Twisters Miniature Bull Riding
