2018 Tom Harpstreith Memorial Youth Hunt a Blast

It was a record year as young hunters from all around participated in this year’s hunt

 

Torrington, WY:  On January 28th, 2018, 45 young hunters came to Torrington Wyoming from Colorado, Nebraska and other parts of the great state of Wyoming. With the help from 22 hunting guides and 11 volunteers, the young hunters ventured out at 5:30 am for a fun filled day of hunting. The bird count totaled over 120 birds, making this a record year! The day continued with a lunch and awards ceremony at The Bucking Horse Steakhouse where hunters, family members, guides, and volunteers celebrated a successful day. A goose calling contest was sponsored by Jason Randolph of WyoBraska Waterfowl in which Tim Grounds Championship goose calls were awarded to the winners in each category:

 

12 & Up:

1st – Jordan Barth, 14, Torrington, WY

2nd – Brayden Frazier, 12, Torrington, WY

3rd – Cody Johnson, 13, Yoder, WY

 

11 & Under:

1st – Tyler Nicolay, 11, Torrington, WY

2nd – Madison Bugher, 8, Torrington, WY

3rd – Bodie Moffat, 11, Torrington, WY

 

Tom Harpstreith’s favorite gun, an engraved Benelli shotgun, was donated by the Tom Harpstreith Memorial Youth Hunt. The Benelli 20 gage shotgun, which Tom shot with daily, was awarded to Kaden Miller, 12, Torrington, WY. Additional awards included a generous donation of a Browning shot gun from the Goshen County 2 Shot Goose Hunt which was awarded to Jace Brezina, 13, Casper, WY and another generous donation of a Weatherby gun from Michael Woltannski of Logan, Iowa was awarded Michael Johnson, 16, Yoder, WY.
