According to Torrington Volunteer Fire Department Public Information Officer, Chuck Kenyon, on Wednesday morning at approximately 9:41 a.m. the Torrington Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire, thought to be a trailer, fully involved near structures at 1736 Haines Street in Torrington. The first arriving command unit was on scene at approximately 9:43, finding a fully engulfed travel trailer. The fire was also extending to nearby structures, including a home on the same lot that received extensive damage.

Kenyon mentioned that the trailer was uninhabited; no one was inside at the time. There were no injuries reported as of Wednesday afternoon.

There is no word yet as to how the fire started, as it is still under investigation. Kenyon stated “Technically, we have not released the scene yet. We still have people sitting on it because [the cause] is under investigation. In addition to our department investigator, there is an investigator coming from the State Fire Marshall’s office.”

Volunteers from the Lingle, Yoder and Veteran fire departments assisted the Torrington department in their efforts, fully containing the fire by around 11:15 a.m.
