67 year old Torrington resident, Neil Newman is among the two fatalities in a two-vehicle collision Sunday afternoon.
According to the Wyoming Department of Transportation Fatality Crash Summary, on Suday, May 13th, at around 12:45pm at mile marker 85 on US HWY 85 the Ford F-250 driven by Neil Newman, which was towing a trailer, was southbound and a Hyundai Sonata driven by 22 year old Austin Walton of Tennessee was northbound when the vehicles struck head-on. The Ford came to a rest facing southeast, partially intruding into the Hyundai and partially in the northbound lane. The Hyundai came to a rest facing northwest, slightly underneath the Ford and completely off of the roadway.
Walton was pronounced deceased on the scene. Newman was transported to Community Hospital in Torrington where he was later pronounced deceased.
Both parties were wearing their seatbelts. Excessive speed, driver inattention and possible impairment are being investigated as contributing factors to the crash.
