Torrington, WY August 24, 2023 — The City of Torrington will be testing a new outdoor warning siren at Cold Springs Business Park on Monday, August 28th.
Technicians with Action Communications of Scottsbluff will perform final installation on Monday and will test the new siren from 10:00AM to 12:00PM. Testing will include the activation of the siren from Torrington Central Dispatch and group activation of all City warning sirens simultaneously. Torrington residents can expect to hear siren sounds throughout the testing cycle.
The cost of the siren equipment and installation was shared by the City of Torrington and a Hazard Mitigation Grant awarded by the Wyoming Office of Homeland Security. The grant will pay 90% of the cost of the project with the City’s 10% being provided by in-kind match through labor and materials.
The City of Torrington’s electric utility installed the siren equipment on a 55 foot utility pole.
