Torrington, Wyo. (RELEASE from WDOC) May 6, 2021 — Janine Blatt began her career with the Wyoming Department of Corrections (WDOC) in September of 2010 as a receptionist.

She promoted to Office Support Specialist I in July of 2011 and then promoted to Instructor II as WMCI’s Intake Assessment/Examiner in October of 2012.  Ms. Blatt has proven herself to be extremely flexible with facility wide scheduling and demonstrates strong communication skills when it comes to completing her job duties with WMCI’s Intake Unit’s inmate testing.  For the past year with mandatory Covid-19 quarantine and isolation practices in place, being able to complete intake inmate testing in a timely manner has been challenging and difficult to accomplish at the very least.  Ms. Blatt will often work around other departments who are also working to complete their own intake procedures and on several occasions she is called upon to test inmates on short notice.  Ms. Blatt doesn’t let this damper her enthusiasm and work ethic, as she is always prepared with a list of inmates who can be tested as soon as the quarantine or isolation status has been lifted.
Ms. Blatt has taken on leadership roles in the education department by taking on additional duties and tasks, which have been instrumental to the daily operations in the education department.  Ms. Batt has taken it upon herself to cross-train in various areas of the education department to assist her team in the best way possible.  She is always the first to volunteer to offer extra help in other departments such as the kitchen and in canteen as needed.  Ms. Blatt takes it upon herself to learn the basic skills needed to fill in or various departments  Ms. Blatt also participated in the WDOC Mentoring Program as part of the Career Development module.  She worked hard with her mentor on the assignments given and continued to do so even after her mentor left the WDOC.  She if very proud to have been a part of the WDOC Mentoring Program.
Ms. Blatt took time out of her work day to spend time cross-training with the ACA Coordinator to be able to fill in if needed.  Finally, Ms. Blatt volunteers her time and effort to help with fundraising activities to benefit WMCI staff.  Most recently, she worked with other Education staff to create a clever basket to help raise funds for Correctional Professional’s Week.
Congratulations to you Ms. Blatt for this well deserved recognition.
