ONEOK Pipeline Project Under way

The ONEOK Elk Creek Pipeline project will transport natural gas liquids from Montana to Kansas.

Thursday, September 20th - According to Bob Taylor of Benchmark Engineering of Torrington, the ONEOK Elk Creek Pipeline project is under way in Niobrara County and will soon reach Goshen County for installation. The approximately 305 miles of pipe for the entire Wyoming portion of the project, is being hauled in to Wyoming Connect Railroad in Yoder.

Taylor mentioned that this construction will have quite an impact on our economy. You will notice that R.V. parks in our area are already pretty full.

The Elk Creek Pipeline project is a nearly 900-mile, 20-inch diameter pipeline that will have the capacity to transport up to 240,000 barrels per day (bpd) of unfractionated natural gas liquids (NGLs) from eastern Montana to Kansas; crossing through Crook, Weston, Niobrara, Goshen and Laramie counties in Wyoming.

"The existing Bakken NGL and Overland Pass Pipelines are operating at full capacity. Additional NGL takeaway capacity is critical to meeting the needs of producers who are increasing production and are required to meet natural gas capture targets in the Williston Basin," said Terry K. Spencer, ONEOK president and chief executive officer. "The Elk Creek Pipeline will strengthen ONEOK's position in the high-production areas of the Bakken, Powder River and Denver-Julesburg regions and also provide additional reliability and redundancy on our NGL system."

The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2019.
