Rumors of gunfire behind Century Lumber in Torrington have not been substantiated during investigations so far by the Torrington Police Department.

Torrington Police are investigating a disturbance in the area behind Century Lumber.

Although the initial report received by TPD said that gunfire occurred in the area, Torrington Police Chief Matt Johnson says that police have not found any evidence that a firearm was involved.

“So far, we have not located any evidence that a firearm was involved, but we are still working on contacting everyone who may have information,” said Chief Johnson.

“There was a vehicle that was damaged, including a window broken out during the disturbance. The damage would have likely created a substantial amount of noise, but we can’t be certain if that was what was reported.”
