Cheyenne, WY (RELEASE) December 28th, 2023 — On December 27, 2023, Secretary of State Chuck Gray sent a letter to U.S. Postal Service Postmaster General Louis DeJoy opposing the Postal Service’s proposal to move mail processing operations from Cheyenne to Denver. Secretary Gray’s letter came in response to the Postal Service’s announcement of its mail processing facility review of processing operations at the Cheyenne Processing and Distribution Center in Cheyenne, and its proposal to move mail processing operations from the Cheyenne Processing and Distribution Center to the Denver Processing and Distribution Center.

“As Wyoming Secretary of State, I oppose this proposal,” Secretary Gray wrote in the letter. “Along with other aspects of the proposal that I find troubling, I’m also concerned that it threatens the integrity of our electoral process and delays the processing of election mail. In addition to requesting that the Postal Service withdraw its proposal, I would like to receive clear clarification as to the status of election mail under this proposal.”
