Torrington Man Charged With Child Abuse, Has Affidavit of Probable Cause Filed

Torrington, Wyo. (Story by Denise Heilbrun-Ellis) June 9, 2020 — According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause filed in Eighth Judicial District Court, Juan Gutierrez,   of Torrington, got into an argument with a 15-year-old in his residence and grabbed her by the shoulders making her hit her lower back on the bedframe, which is made out of pallets.

He then picked her up repeatedly and grabbed her by the shoulders throwing her back on the bed.
Gutierrez allegedly slapped and punched her several times, one time in the lip.
The victim told police that it was not the first time this has happened. Officers noted bruises and abrasions on her lip, bruises, and red marks on her upper chest and right and left shoulders.
The victim was concerned because he is one of her primary caregivers.
Gutierrez, 29, is charged with felony child abuse.
If he is found guilty Gutierrez could be imprisoned for 10 years or pay $10,000 fine or both.
He has been released on a $1,000 bond.
