Torrington, WY. February 8, 2023 — The Torrington Police Department is now fully staffed thanks to the addition of a new officer on Tuesday night. Officer Tim Cross was sworn in by Torrington Police Chief Matt Johnson during Tuesday’s City Council Meeting.

Chief Johnson expressed his excitement for adding a new police officer.

“We look for a lot of things in a police officer. We look for character. We look for integrity. We look for a heart of service. We look for passion for our community – and Tim checks all of those boxes.”

Chief Johnson said that he recently attended a meeting with law enforcement from across the State of Wyoming. He recalled conversations with peers about the difficulties of finding help for local law enforcement.

“With the addition of Officer Cross we are fully staffed with law enforcement officers in Torrington,” said Chief Johnson. “We feel incredibly grateful for that.”
