TPD Investigating Homicide, Arson, Vehicle Theft

Torrington, Wyo. April 20, 2021 — The Torrington Police Department is actively investigating a homicide, arson, and vehicle theft in the community that occurred early Tuesday morning.

According to TPD, at 6:10 a.m. Tuesday morning they were notified of a fire in the 300 block of East Valley Road in Torrington. While working to control the blaze, police officers were notified of additional information regarding the incident that was suspicious in nature. The fire is currently being investigated as a suspected arson.

Officers conducted a follow-up investigation based on information received and a deceased person was located in the 1300 block of East 17th in Torrington. The death is suspicious in nature and is being investigated as a suspected homicide.

During investigation at the scene of the crime, a stolen vehicle was reported in the 1700 block of East C Street. The vehicle was located with assistance from the Goshen County Sheriff’s Department.

All of these incidents are believed to be related and the crimes are associated with a single suspect. The suspect is now being held with probable cause at the Goshen County Detention Center.

The investigation is ongoing, and the Torrington Police Department will work with the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation and the Goshen County Coroner to gather evidence and seek justice for the victim.
