TVFD Releases Details on Structure Fire on WY-156

Torrington, Wyo. (Via TVFD Facebook) March 8, 2022 — Your volunteers were dispatched to the 4700 block of WY-156 for a report of explosion and fire at an agricultural production facility Wednesday morning. First arriving units found that a 160′ tall elevator assembly was involved in the explosion.

Facility management provided information regarding materials involved and firefighters performed careful assessment of the air quality, building and elevator. High-angle rope and safety equipment was brought from the station. Wearing personal protective gear, firefighters climbed to the top of the elevator equipment to look for any extension of the fire, which had self-extinguished.

Torrington EMS, Torrington Emergency Management, Goshen County Fire Warden, Goshen County Sheriff, Goshen County Emergency Management and Wyoming Office of Homeland Security participated in the incident. Torrington Fire responded with Command, 2 structure engines, 2 wildland engines and 18 firefighters. Fire Department operated on-scene for approximately 3.5 hours.
